These playful fabric cuffs are hand-crafted from recycled Huipil fabric by the talented Mayan women artisans of Vida Dulce by Kristen. A huipil is the traditional blouse worn by indigenous Mayan women, and are beautifully hand woven and embroidered. Throughout Guatemala each village has their own distinctive embroidery patterns, and therefore you are able to see where someone is from by the designs on their shirt! Each cuff features delicate beaded edging and can be adjusted to fit.
As much of the Indigenous Mayan population in Guatemala live disproportionately in poverty, these handicrafts provide women artisans with a valuable source of income. Part of the proceeds from all Vida Dulce jewelry also go Pueblo a Pueblo, a non-profit initiative that works to better and empower the lives of Mayans in the Guatemalan Highlands through nutrition and education programs.
When you buy a Vida Dulce cuff you are not only supporting Mayan women artisans, you are also investing in their communities!
